Room for six, and a lawn to send them out onto
Three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a table that seats everyone, and a fenced back garden with grass and shade. The unglamorous things that decide whether a family vacation is restful or a week of logistics.

Six, and six is the number
The house sleeps 6 across 3 bedrooms, and the house rules cap it at six. That is a firm limit rather than a polite one. There is no sofa bed and no air mattress on the amenity list, so a seventh person genuinely has nowhere to sleep.
A family of four or five fits comfortably with a room to spare. Two parents and four children fits exactly. Two families sharing does not, and neither does five with two grandparents. It is better to find that out on this page than in a message thread the week before you travel.
The arrangements as the listing publishes them — and the one bedroom whose configuration it does not publish — are set out on the bedrooms page.
What makes it work with children
The garden is fenced all the way round. Solid privacy fence and block wall, a wide lawn, two big shade trees. Children can be outside without one adult permanently on watch, which is the difference between a vacation and a shift pattern.
Two full bathrooms. Six people and one bathroom is how mornings go wrong. Two is the difference between being out of the door by nine and not.
A kitchen and a table for six. Feeding a family in restaurants three times a day gets expensive fast and does not suit small children at all. Being able to do breakfast at the house and a proper dinner at the table changes the budget and the mood. See the kitchen.
Hard floors and air conditioning. Sand, sun cream and lake water come home with you. Tile and laminate forgive all of it.
A washer. Essential with children. Note that there is no dryer — on a week-long family trip that is manageable, and it is covered honestly on the extended-stay page.

Roswell is a genuinely good children's vacation
It is an unusual combination. The town has an entire identity built around an alien story, which children find delightful and adults find funny, and it has a state park twenty minutes away with a sand beach on a sinkhole lake, which nobody expects in the high desert.
Roswell with kids is the full guide, including which things actually hold a child’s attention and which quietly do not. Bottomless Lakes State Park has the beach, a playground, a sand volleyball court and picnic shelters, and the UFO Museum charges $4 for children aged 5 to 15 and nothing at all under 5.
The practical rhythm in summer: out early, back to the shaded garden for the middle of the day when it is over 90°F, out again in the evening. The covered patio exists for exactly that middle stretch.

This suits you if
- You are a family of four to six who would rather have a house than two hotel rooms
- You want somewhere the children can go outside safely without supervision
- You plan to cook at least some of your meals
- You are bringing the dog as well as the children
- You have a car and are happy to drive ten to twenty minutes to things
This is not for you if
- Your group is seven or more. The limit is six and there is nowhere for a seventh to sleep
- You want a pool. There is no pool, no hot tub and no jacuzzi here
- You need a crib, a high chair or a stair gate. None is on the amenity list — ask before you assume
- You want to be able to walk to attractions and restaurants
- You are traveling without a car
Family questions
How many people does Lana's Desert Haven sleep?
The house sleeps 6. There are 3 bedrooms, 3 beds and 2 full bathrooms, and the house rules set a firm limit of six guests. That is a real limit rather than a soft one, so if your group is seven you need a different house.
Is the whole house private, or is it shared?
It is an entire home. You have the whole house, the garage driveway and the fenced back garden to yourselves — no shared rooms, no other guests, and no host on site.
Is the yard fenced?
Yes. The back garden has solid privacy fencing, a wide lawn under mature shade trees, and a covered patio. The host describes it in her own listing as secure fencing for pets.
Is there a pool or hot tub?
No. There is no pool, hot tub or jacuzzi at the house. If you want to swim, Lea Lake at Bottomless Lakes State Park has a genuine sand beach 15 miles southeast.
Do I need a car in Roswell?
Realistically, yes. Roswell has no meaningful public transport network, the house is a residential fifteen minutes from downtown, and the best things nearby — Bottomless Lakes, the wildlife refuge, Carlsbad Caverns — are all drives. If you are flying into Roswell Air Center, check car rental availability with the airport directly when you book your flight.
Are linens and towels provided?
The house is fully furnished, but Airbnb lists 'Essentials' under not included, so do not assume a full hotel-style supply of toiletries. If you need to know exactly what is in the linen closet for your stay, ask through Airbnb before you travel.
Can I have a fire in the fire pit?
There is a fire pit on the back patio and an outdoor dining area and BBQ grill alongside it. New Mexico does put seasonal fire restrictions in place, so check current restrictions before you light anything — the state publishes them.
