The pet policy

Pets are allowed, assistance animals are always allowed, and the back garden is properly fenced. Beyond that, the listing publishes no fee, no weight limit and no maximum number — so this page tells you that instead of making one up.

The back lawn, enclosed by a white privacy fence, with two mature shade trees and the covered patio along the back of the house.

What is published

  • Pets allowed. It is a named amenity on the listing, in the “Services” group, not an exception granted case by case.
  • Assistance animals are always allowed. That is the host’s own note on the listing, and it is also the law.
  • Secure fencing for pets. The host names it in her written description of the property, and you can see it in the photographs — solid privacy fence right around a wide lawn.
  • The host has three Shelties. Airbnb publishes that as a host highlight. It is a small thing, but it is the difference between a property that tolerates dogs and one run by someone who lives with them.

What is not published

No pet fee, no weight limit, and no maximum number of pets appears anywhere on the listing. Plenty of rental sites would fill that gap with a confident-sounding “up to two dogs under 50lbs, $75 pet fee”. We are not going to, because we would be inventing it, and you would find out at the door.

If you are traveling with a large dog, with more than two, or with something that is not a dog, message the host through Airbnb before you book. It takes a minute and you get a real answer. Any fee that does apply will appear in the Airbnb total at checkout, which is another good reason to let their system be the source of truth on money.

Being a good guest with a dog here

A few things that are not rules, just what makes a stay go well in a house like this one:

  • Check the gate the first time you let a dog out. It is a real fence, but it is not your fence, and a new dog will test it.
  • The floors are wood-look laminate and tile throughout — forgiving of muddy paws, which is exactly why they suit a pet-friendly house.
  • There is a covered kennel run along the side of the house, visible in the photographs. Ask the host whether it is available for your stay rather than assuming.
  • For days out, Bottomless Lakes State Park allows leashed pets, like most New Mexico state parks. That is a genuinely good dog-day-out twenty minutes from the house.

Pet questions

Is Lana's Desert Haven pet friendly?

Yes. Pets are allowed, and the back garden is securely fenced, which is the part that actually matters when you are traveling with a dog. Assistance animals are always allowed. The listing does not publish a pet fee, a weight limit or a maximum number of pets, so confirm the details for your specific booking on Airbnb.

Is the yard fenced?

Yes. The back garden has solid privacy fencing, a wide lawn under mature shade trees, and a covered patio. The host describes it in her own listing as secure fencing for pets.
